YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) in partnership with Indepen-dance, has launched a new two-year dance and disability project, Moving Forwards.

The project aims to provide regular dance activity for disabled young people aged 12 to 25 in North Ayrshire, the Western Isles, Falkirk and North Lanarkshire. Sessions will help participants make friends, get creative, learn new skills and have fun.

In addition to classes for young people, CPD sessions will be provided for professional Dance Artists to build their skills and enable them to integrate youth dance provision in their local communities.

The project was launched in North Ayrshire at the beginning of September. Pupils from local schools took part in a fun workshop lead by YDance Dance Development Officer Laura McLaughlin, before enjoying a performance by Indepen-dance 4.

The project is supported by the Scottish Government Get Scotland Dancing Legacy 2014 Fund.
