14 youth dance groups from across the country have been selected to perform alongside the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland at a spectacular celebration of young dance talent.

YDance Routes Destinations is a vibrant annual showcase of the best youth dance companies from across Scotland. The event, held this year at Tramway, Glasgow on Saturday 24th February, brings together national youth dance talent in an exciting evening of diverse performances.

The 14 groups taking part were carefully selected by YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) – the national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland – through an application process after the company was inundated with submissions from talented groups. Those chosen come from as far away as Skye, Aberdeen and Inverness.

Audiences can expect an entertaining programme of various dance styles from some of Scotland’s best dance groups aged between 12 and 21.

Destinations will also include the premiere of the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland’s new piece for 2018, Di-ver-gent choreographed by Anna Kenrick, YDance Artistic Director. After Destinations, NYDCS will jet off to Melbourne, Australia to take part in an exchange and performance opportunity with Yellow Wheel Dance Company in March.

There will also be a special performance by invited guests, Dublin Youth Dance Company who will perform their piece Six Degrees of Separation, choreographed by Mariam Ribón and the dancers.

Anna Kenrick, YDance Artistic Director said:

“YDance is delighted to be hosting the annual platform for youth dance in Scotland. After a huge number of applicants from across Scotland, the panel, which included two young dancers at different stages in their careers, narrowed it down to the impressive list you will see on the 24th. The groups performing on the fantastic Tramway stage highlight the enormous wealth of talent we have across the country and how youth dance as a sector is growing each year. You really don’t want to miss out on this terrific show!”
