13 youth dance groups from across the country have been selected to perform alongside the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland at a spectacular celebration of young dance talent.
Destinations is a vibrant annual showcase of the best youth dance companies from across Scotland. The event, this year to be held at Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling on Saturday 2 March, brings together national youth dance talent in an exciting evening of diverse performances.
The 13 groups taking part were carefully selected by YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) – the national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland – through an application process after the company was inundated with submissions from talented groups. Those chosen come from as far away as the Highlands, Skye and Aberdeen.
The final groups selected to perform at Destinations 2019 are:
Central Scotland Ballet School – Falkirk
Danscentre – Aberdeen
Fusion Youth Dance Company – Aberdeen
Horizons – Glasgow
Ihayami Youth Collective – Edinburgh
Indepen-dance Young 1’z – Glasgow
Leeanne Dobbie Dance – Glasgow
Macrobert Youth Dance Company – Stirling
Monument Dance Centre – Stirling
Plan B Young Company – Highlands

YDance has also partnered with industry body One Dance UK to offer two groups from Scotland the chance to perform at U.Dance 2019 in London on 20 – 21 July, 2019. Selection of the two Scottish groups will be made at Destinations.
Audiences can expect an entertaining programme at Destinations which will also include the premiere of the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland’s new piece for 2019, For Those Who Wait, choreographed by Anna Kenrick, YDance Artistic Director.
Anna said:
“YDance are thrilled to be hosting the 2019 Destinations platform – our 8th annual youth dance showcase. Each year the groups are incredible and demonstrate the huge talent we have in the Scottish youth dance sector. The selected groups will be joined by our very own National Youth Dance Company of Scotland premiering their new work so you really don’t want to miss this fantastic night of dance!”
