Booking is now open for our 2020 dance CLPL courses for primary and secondary school teachers taking place in May.
As the demand for dance increases within educational settings, YDance have devised CLPL courses to support the development of primary and secondary school teachers to enable them to deliver dance in schools. Our CLPL courses for teachers focus on various areas of dance education to achieve areas of curriculum for excellence, academic and core skills.

Higher Dance CLPL
The Higher Dance CLPL course aims to develop teachers’ knowledge, skills and understanding to enable them to deliver the qualification in their establishment. These practical sessions cover all knowledge needed for the technical and performance skills of a chosen dance style or the mandatory choreography unit.

National 5 CLPL
The National 5 CLPL course aims to develop teachers’ knowledge, skills and understanding to enable them to deliver the qualification in their establishment. Dance for Primary CLPL
This one-day practical course aimed at Primary teachers will provide insight of how dance can enrich kinaesthetic learning. This course aims to develop teachers’ knowledge of dance to support the delivery of cross-curricular dance sessions. These sessions will help reinforce pupils’ knowledge of classroom topics as well as develop fundamental movement skills.

Further Development CLPL
The Further Development CLPL courses are full-day practical sessions to inspire and rejuvenate teachers who are delivering SQA awards in dance. All courses are aimed at teachers who have previously attended a CLPL course delivered by YDance or are already delivering SQA Dance in Secondary schools and are looking for fresh ideas, new exercises and sequences.

Dance Artist CPD
YDance are also running CPD courses for Dance Artists. These one-day practical and theory-based courses are aimed at upskilling dance artists looking to deliver, or currently delivering dance in schools. As a dance specialist you may be required to support schools and deliver certain aspects of the primary curriculum or an SQA qualification.
