Year of Young People 2018 Creative Traineeship Programme (2018)
In 2018 YDance was awarded funding from the Year of Young People 2018 Creative Traineeship Programme to offer a year-long traineeship to a young person aged between 21 and 24, based in Scotland.
The traineeship offered a young emerging dance practitioner a unique opportunity to develop their skills through mentoring by experienced YDance staff and working on a wide range of participatory dance projects for children and young people. Aimee Friel was awarded the traineeship and was mentored by YDance Artistic Director Anna Kenrick and involved in planning and delivering participatory dance sessions with a member of the core staff team. Aimee was then encouraged and supported to take more responsibility and develop her own role within YDance. Aimee is now a permanent member of the YDance team in the role of Dance Artist.
BBC Performing Arts Fund (2015)
In 2015 YDance was awarded a grant by the BBC Performing Arts Fund to allow us to take on a BBC Fellow.
Emma Smith was awarded the placement through the BBC Performing Arts Fellowship Scheme and, during her time with us, developed her skills as a Dance Artist & Choreographer.
