COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT – The courses scheduled in May have been cancelled, and will be rescheduled later in the year when advice on social distancing allows us to safely deliver training. Those who booked for the course in May will be given a full refund and will have priority booking when the training block is re-scheduled.

The Further Development CLPL courses are full-day practical sessions to inspire and rejuvenate teachers who are delivering SQA awards in dance. All courses are aimed at teachers who have previously attended a CLPL course delivered by YDance or are already delivering SQA Dance in Secondary schools and are looking for fresh ideas, new exercises and sequences.

Technical Skills

Aimed at refreshing secondary school teachers’ knowledge and analysis of technical and performance skills, including partner work.

The course will cover:

  • NEW – Jazz and Contemporary sequences
  • How to conduct in-depth analysis of technical and performance skills
  • Contact work, partner work and lifts in a safe and creative way

Dance Appreciation

Aimed at supporting secondary school teachers gain further knowledge on the history of selected dance styles followed by an analysis of a professional piece of choreographic work.

The course will cover:

  • The history of Jazz
  • The history of Contemporary
  • Choreographic analysis of Christopher Bruce’s Ghost Dances
