Scotland’s Dancing: What’s your Move? Conference 2017

On Friday 23rd June, 2017, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) held the ‘Scotland’s Dancing: What’s your move?’ Dance Conference.

This day-long conference explored education, inclusion, equality, aspiration and excellence in dance, and featured workshops by dance professionals including Scottish Dance Theatre Education Team, Louise Klarnett – a specialist in dance for early years, and dance artist Tim Casson.

The programme also included speakers from Creative Scotland and the Scottish Qualifications Authority, panel discussions with dance education professionals from across the UK and abroad, and a performance by inclusive dance company Indepen-dance 4. Janet Archer, Chief Executive of Creative Scotland was the keynote speaker and led a warm up at the start of the day.

The conference was attended by over 100 delegates made up of Primary and Secondary school teachers, dance artists, students, dancers and dance teachers.
