Projects to Inspire

Free to Dance

Free to Dance (2008 – 2012)

Free to Dance involved teenage girls across Ayrshire, Glasgow and Orkney encouraging them get fit and feel good about themselves through dance.

With funding from the Scottish Government Health Department we ran free dance sessions, offered performance opportunities and Award in Dance Leadership training courses as well as providing training for project partners.

“A big thank you for working with us over the years._ _It [Free To Dance] was fantastic and a great opportunity for girls who wouldn’t usually become involved with dance or physical activity.” – Karla Clark, Domain Youth Centre

Key project statistics:

  • Nearly 1,000 girls got dancing with us every week
  • We worked with over 100 different partner organisations
  • We ran over 100 different sessions on a weekly basis

“It [Free To Dance] has been a fantastic experience for my team – working alongside such a dynamic project that has made a big difference to a lot of young people’s lives.” – Alison Montgomery, Ardrossan Youth Centre.
