Moving Forward (2017 – 2018)
Moving Forward was a two-year dance and disability project. Run by YDance and Indepen-dance, the project provided free regular dance activity for disabled young people in North Ayrshire, the Western Isles, Falkirk and North Lanarkshire.
In addition to dance sessions for young people, CPD sessions were provided for teachers, youth workers, carers or dance artists who worked in participatory settings to build their skills and enable them to integrate youth dance provision in their local communities.
Taught by YDance staff who specialise in inclusive practice, the free inclusive training sessions were fun, creative and informative, offering various ways to engage and inspire all young people. Participants gained skills, ideas and confidence in facilitating an inclusive dance session, including games, warm-ups, movement and creative tasks.
The project was supported by the Scottish Government Get Scotland Dancing Legacy 2014 Fund.
