Sector Development

YDance has been advocating for the influential and positive role dance plays in society for over 30 years. As a regularly funded Creative Scotland organisation, we deliver exceptional projects where children learn not only about dance but through dance, and we understand the impact high quality cross learning dance experiences can have on young people. Through working in partnership with organisations in culture, sport, health, education, social services, and youth justice we have experienced how children and young people are transformed through our projects, and as a result, we are committed to ensuring dance has a strong voice across all sectors.

YDance staff are active in various sector development networks across Scotland and the UK.  These span across the education and youth development sectors, as well as the professional and community dance sectors. We regularly run projects funded directly by Scottish Government, so we are perfectly placed to advocate for the vital role of dance in young people’s lives.

We aim to enable children and young people from across Scotland to access high-quality dance opportunities regardless of their circumstance.  To ensure that this can happen, we run a Sector Development Programme to support the Scottish youth dance sector, as well as advocating for, and teaching about, the transformational benefits of dance across other sectors.
