About Co-productions
YDance works in partnership with a large range of organisations to provide and support youth dance in Scotland. Some of our key partnerships have been with other National Youth Performing Arts Companies and with Scottish Ballet.
Working in partnership enables us to widen the experience for young dancers who can experience working cross-artform, and to create innovative productions which showcase some of the best young artistic talent in the country.
Previous co-productions include:
Tam O’Shanter
In 2009, YDance worked with Scottish Youth Theatre and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland to create a co-production of Tam O’Shanter, as part of the Homecoming Scotland year.
Generation Dance Festival
In 2018, the Generation Dance project saw young dancers from YDance work with members of Scottish Ballet’s Elders Company to create Letters to My Shadow performed at Tramway.
Tell Us Who We Are
In the same summer YDance worked with the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCoS), the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) and Scottish Youth Theatre (SYT) to create Tell Us Who We Are, performed at the Fruit Market in Glasgow. Both productions were part of the Festival 2018 programme which ran in parallel with Glasgow’s hosting of the 2018 European Championships.
