About Destinations
**Tickets now on sale!**
Our national youth dance performance platform, Destinations is back for 2023 at Eden Court Inverness.
YDance has partnered with Eden Court, Inverness to offer youth dance groups and individuals from across Scotland the opportunity to showcase their own work to a live audience at one of the Highlands’ premiere performing arts venues.
Groups and individuals will have the opportunity to submit work not only made for theatre, but work made specifically for screen dance too!
From the applications, our panel will select groups and individuals to perform in a vibrant showcase of the best youth dance from across Scotland.
Destinations 2023 will take place on Saturday 18th February at Eden Court, Inverness.

To take part in the Destinations Indoor Performance Strand:
- Dancers must be based in Scotland
- Groups must not include more than 20 dancers
- All dancers must be aged 11 – 21 (dancers with disabilities can be aged up to 25)
- Your dance piece must be between 1 and 7 minutes long
To take part in the Destinations Screen Dance Strand:
- Dancers must be based in Scotland
- You must be aged 11 – 21 (dancers with disabilities can be aged up to 25)
- Your dance piece must be between 1 and 7 minutes long
- Screen dance pieces must have been specifically created to be viewed as a screen dance rather than being a live dance piece someone has filmed
- You must adhere to music licensing requirements (see ‘Music’ below for further information)
Music
There are strict rules and legal requirements around music rights for dance. This ensures musicians and composers are credited and compensated appropriately for their work. This matter is taken very seriously and PRS can, and often does, take legal action where music has been used without permission, even in charity and educational settings.
Groups should not assume they can use any piece of music for free – the rights must be secured, and the rules vary depending on if your piece will be performed live or streamed online. YDance are unable to pay to secure rights to any music accompaniment to pieces and will not be able to stream any piece online if the rights are not secured.
See One Dance UK’s Digital Music Licensing Best Practice Guide >>>
If you are creating a piece of screen dance, options include:
- Using royalty-free music. Various online libraries are available, with some options listed on the Streaming Youth Dance Online Music Licensing Best Practice via the link above
- Using original music composed solely for the piece
- Contacting the music publisher of the piece and accessing rights directly with them, and providing evidence of this with the application
