National Youth Dance Company of Scotland

The National Youth Dance Company of Scotland (NYDCS)

Formed by YDance in 2011, the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland is the flagship contemporary dance company for Scotland’s exceptional young dancers aged 16 – 21.

The company works with YDance Artistic Director Anna Kenrick, in a series of intensive weekends once a month, to explore and create a new piece of contemporary dance. For the first time, the 2021/2022 company will create a new work for not only the stage, but also for outdoor performance which will tour the UK.

Dancers will also get the opportunity to take part in The Celtic Collective, a series of workshops with National Youth Dance Wales, as well as workshops with prominent dance artists from the UK and have opportunities for personal development and growth through 121 mentoring sessions with Anna Kenrick.

The work of the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland aims to change the perceptions of what youth dance is and can be. The pieces showcase the movement language, individuality and minds of the dancers in the company that year.  To date, the company has toured to Australia, France, Belgium, Ireland and throughout the UK performing in theatres like Sadler’s Wells and at prominent events like UDance and the Australian Youth Dance festival.

If you are thinking of pursuing dance as a career there is no other experience like NYDCS!
