Make a difference
At YDance, we’re committed to breaking down barriers. We are one of the few organisations in Scotland offering free dance opportunities — while over 99% of classes require payment. Our mission is to ensure every young person, no matter their background, has the chance to experience the benefits of dance.
YDance has been advocating for the positive role dance plays in society for over 30 years. Working in partnership with organisations in culture, sport, health, education, social services, and youth justice, we know how much children and young people are transformed through our projects.
As a result, we ensure dance has a strong voice across all sectors and are committed to providing children and young people from across Scotland access high-quality dance opportunities regardless of their circumstances or geography.
Dance has the power to change lives. It builds confidence, friendships, and essential life skills. It encourages young people to stay active, express themselves, and develop motivation for the future.

Description text goes hereRobyn Richford, TV and radio presenter (ITV’s Scrambled!, Capital Scotland FM), began her journey with YDance.
“I started my journey with YDance in 2008 through Project Y and the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland. YDance opened my world in ways I’ll be forever grateful for—giving me a sense of community, an escape, and the belief that someone like me could have a career in the arts. It truly changed my life.”
