Looking back on 2025

DESTINATIONS

With 11 groups taking part from all across country, this fantastic performance, taking place in April at Macrobert in Stirling, showcased the very best in youth dance from across Scotland.

BEYOND HORIZONS

Developed towards the end of 2025, our new over-arching programme adds a new community strand to our already established Horizons company. As well as performing at Destinations, the Horizons team also toured Scotland, performing in Inverness and Aberdeen.

RECHARGE

This two-day intensive course provided dance artists and teachers a place to reflect, connect, and grow their teaching practice - as well as connecting to their peers in the dance community.

U.DANCE

In July, NYDCS took part in the U.Dance Festival at Sadler's Wells East. The festival is a celebration of youth dance, where groups from across the UK perform on professional stages, take part in workshops, and are offered inspiring dance careers information.

IF NOT YOU, THEN WHO

In June, in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland, this initiative saw pupils from Holycross High School explore Bothwell Castle’s history and effects of climate change, then express these through dance and film.

GLASGOW 850

Our young CashBack dancers were part of a special Clyde Chorus performance in May to celebrate 850 years of Glasgow. Attended by the Lord Provost, our performers also danced across Bell’s Bridge to the Crowne Plaza where they enjoyed a special show from Kirsteen Harvey.

EVOLUTION

Celebrating 20 years, this special run of 6 shows at the Fringe in August was very well-received - selling out most performances. It was a great experience for the dancers from Project Y, ETA, and NYDCS who all took part.

RYTHMOSAIC

NYDCS were delighted to also perform at Yorkshire Dance in Leeds, as part of Rhythmosaic’s Project Youth, marking a milestone in our long-standing partnership.

NYDCS

Our new 2025/26 company assembled in October and have been busy creating a new piece for Destinations 26. They also had a brand refresh and welcomed Tess Lethham as their new choreographer for 2025/26.

In September, four dancers from NYDCS headed to Germany to join Jugend Tanz Ensemble (JTE) as part of our Take Flight project.

They had a fantastic time exchanging ideas, performing, teaching and building meaningful connections.

TAKE FLIGHT

NYDCS FOUNDATIONS

In September, we launched our new NYDCS Foundations programme aimed dancers, aged 13-18 years old.

Running in Aberdeen and Inverclyde, the company will start creating later this month.

ETA & ESTONIA

2025 was a year of collaboration with ETA Kompanii in an exciting international and cultural exchange.

ETA joined us at the Edinburgh Fringe, performing Loop, then took their double bill on tour across Estonia.
